Breaking Free From the Cycle of Overwhelm

This is the cycle of overwhelm…

  • You place expectations on yourself that no human can possibly uphold.
  • You exhaust yourself trying to meet those expectations.
  • You judge yourself for not doing more.

Until… you will yourself to push harder again.

Sound familiar? I know this cycle all too well myself. It’s a never-ending loop that has 9 out of 10 moms in a constant state of overwhelm. It’s not just moms. So many of us, whether parents or not, feel so stressed out!
That’s why I recorded a video to explore the underbelly of overwhelm, discover what is really happening beneath the surface, and how to shift it.

Why Overwhelm Shows Up

woman who is overwhelmedBeing overwhelmed is more than just having too much on your plate. At its core, it happens when we push ourselves too hard, pushing our way through life with sheer willpower.

We think if we just do more, we’ll finally get it all done, and instead we burn out and criticize ourselves for not being enough.
Overwhelm shows up as a loving signal that this way of operating will never bring the ease, joy, and fulfillment we crave.

The Hidden Belief Behind Our Efforts

At the root of overwhelm is often the belief: I’m not enough unless I achieve more.

When we judge our worth by outcomes and external results, we stay stuck in the cycle. The more we put in effort, the more disconnected we become from our true selves.

But here’s the shift: your worth is intrinsic. It doesn’t depend on how much you do, how hard you push, or how much you achieve.

How to Break the Cycle

When overwhelm shows up, here’s how to respond differently:

  • Pause and slow down. Give yourself permission to stop.
  • Drop the self-judgment. Stop asking, “What’s wrong with me for not doing more?”
  • Reconnect with your truth. Remember that your value doesn’t come from effort. It’s who you already are.

Only when you quiet the mind can your intuitive wisdom and inner guidance come through. From that place, your next steps will feel clearer, more focused, and far more aligned with what you want.

Overwhelm as a Gift

Instead of resisting overwhelm, see it as a blessing. It’s your built-in guide, reminding you to:

  • Value yourself for who you are.
  • Trust your inner wisdom.
  • Take aligned action rather than scattered, frantic action.

The more you honor that guidance, the simpler, easier, and more fulfilling life becomes.

When you stop fighting yourself and instead work with the subconscious energy guiding 90–95% of your behavior, you’ll finally be able to move forward with more ease, clarity, and confidence.
