Is Your Relationship on Your TO DO List?

18 Feb 2014, by michelle in Relationships

Trust me, I know the drill:busy dad with baby

  • Work
  • Kids
  • Health/Exercise
  • Laundry
  • Cleaning
  • Talking Intimately with my Partner??

Here’s the thing: I know you sometimes (or perhaps often) feel run-down and overwhelmed.

As Dr. Sara Gottfried says: our new addiction is stress. We know how to keep busy to the point of exhausting ourselves.

The last thing I want to do is add to your to-do list. And I’m not going to do that.

Instead, I am going to ask you:

Do you still want closeness and connection?
Is your relationship even on your radar?
How long is lack of energy or time going to be allowed to take you off track from your desires?

If you remember being in-love with your partner, you gave time and energy to your relationship because you were in-love with your relationship. With 3 kids of my own, I get how easy it is to believe love was easier prior to having babies.

Yet, this is really a matter of perception because people fall-in love all the time while already having kids.

It doesn’t take more time and energy, it takes being conscious with our attention.

The great news is that when you are in love, you lose track of time and energy just comes.

Don’t just take my word on it, give it a try. Pull your partner aside, sit face to face, and look right into their eyes. Tell him or her you just want to listen to how they are. Nothing else. No other agenda. No hidden expectations. It literally only takes 5-10 minutes.

I’m going to ask you to trust me, when I tell you that giving your relationship conscious attention is not only do-able but is so completely worth it!!! Because what you are actually doing is creating the space to give to parts of you that are, let’s face it, starving for attention.

Can busy couples remain in love? YES! Let me show you how.
